The us-Canada trade war has deepened, with president Donald Trump ending all negotiations with Ottawa over a contentious ad.

The ad, sponsored by Ontario, used a 1987 Ronald Reagan  clip to criticize US tariffs. Trump blasted the ad as “fake” and an act of “egregious behavior.”

This move threatens the c$3.6 billion in goods and services that cross the border daily. The dispute stems from US tariffs, now at 35%, on Canadian  steel, aluminum, and cars.

The ad has also drawn legal threats from the Ronald Reagan  Presidential Foundation. They claim the “selective audio” distorts Reagan’s 1987 speech.

Canadian  pm mark carney expressed disappointment and vowed to find other ways to lower trade barriers, even as secretary of state Marco Rubio confirmed talks are suspended.
