This evening’s presentation of the 98th Academy Awards nominations by Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman revealed who leads the pack. Paul Thomas Anderson and Ryan Coogler clearly emerged as the front-runners.
Their leadership of the pack manifested through extensive nominations across categories. Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” leads with recognition in directing, adapted screenplay, acting, cinematography, and sound design. The film’s Golden Globes success continued with strong Academy support.
Coogler’s “Sinners” leads equally with nominations in directing, cinematography, production design, costume design, sound design, visual effects, and acting. The comprehensive acknowledgment demonstrates the film’s excellence across all filmmaking disciplines.
Other films in the pack include “Marty Supreme,” featuring Timothée Chalamet’s nominated performance. “Hamnet,” “Sentimental Value,” and “Frankenstein” also earned recognition. However, “Homebound” fell behind the pack with zero nominations.
The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles hosts the 98th Academy Awards on March 15. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, where pack leaders will compete for ultimate victory.
